private sector in drug addiction treatment in iran need for unification of responsible institutions

since the beginning of private and governmental treatment center activities in iran, almost 90% of methadone treatment was regarded to private sectors and only 10% to the governmental centers. this is whilst finances that iran drug control headquarters pays to different organizations in aim of developing and improving drug treatment programs, is 90% to the governmental centers and only 10% to the private ones; which means, there is a reverse relationship between finances paid and services provided to the patients. currently, main addiction treatment of the country is done by medicines and the staff of the private centers; and in annual reports issued to the united nations office, one of the positive treatment activities mentioned, is to develop the private sector. this article argues that despite what it appears to be, many of substance use treatment clinics encounter lack of sufficient profit to continue running and must spend on their own for a while to run their clinics.
